The Weight of High Performance: What We've Been Carrying All Along
Responsibility becomes routine. People rely on you because you've always been the one who steps in, finds a ...solution, and keeps moving forward.
Over time, that way of living becomes so familiar that endurance begins to feel like the measure of success.
What often goes unnoticed isn't everything we're doing.
It's everything we've been carrying.
The conversations that ended too soon. The disappointments we learned to move past. The losses we never slowed down long enough to acknowledge. Little by little, those experiences become part of how we lead, communicate, make decisions, and respond to the world around us, often without realizing how much influence they have.
We've been taught that resilience means becoming stronger.
What if it also means becoming more aware?
That question invites us to look at high performance through a different lens. One that recognizes success is not measured only by what we accomplish, but also by our relationship with ourselves. Because what we carry internally has a way of shaping everything we create externally.
This LIVE explores a question that many professionals rarely have the opportunity to ask:
What have we been carrying all along... and what begins to change when we finally become curious about it?
What We Will Discuss
• Why high performers often become disconnected from the experiences quietly shaping the way they lead, communicate, and make decisions
• How grief, pressure, and life's challenges can become sources of insight rather than experiences we simply learn to outwork
• What ancient wisdom and nervous system science reveal about resilience, self-awareness, and living with greater intention
• How understanding what we've been carrying can deepen our relationships, strengthen our leadership, and influence the impact we have on others
Our Guest-perts:
Dave Roberts has spent more than two decades helping individuals and families navigate grief following the death of his eighteen-year-old daughter, Jeannine. Through counseling, education, writing, and speaking, he offers a compassionate perspective that reminds us grief is not something to overcome, but an experience that can deepen our understanding of love, loss, and what it means to live with intention.
James Kealiʻiʻilani Kawainui is a Kahu and keeper of a twenty-plus generation Kahuna lineage. Through the living practice of pono, he guides leaders and high achievers toward greater balance, helping them recognize that pain is not the problem, but a messenger pointing them back to harmony, integrity, and a deeper relationship with themselves.
Together, Dave and James invite us to reconsider one of the greatest misconceptions about high performance: that carrying more is the same as living well.
Their perspectives remind us that some of our greatest growth begins when we become willing to understand what we've been carrying all along.
